Fall/Winter 2004 - A Word: Fur!

Fur-ocious Fall!

Fur-ocious is a great way to describe what is happening for fall 2004-2005 fashions. There is wild use of fur this season, the likes of which we have not seen in years. Fall fads festively foray into fur. The shrug. The poncho. The puffy jacket. Fur trim on dresses, collars, sweaters. Fur hats, scarves, and gloves. Fur for women and men. Real fur. Fake fur. Does this idea furrow your brow?

Fall Fabrics

Is it any wonder that fall is the favorite season for so many of us? This is the season when we get to sumptuously layer textile upon textile, thus communicating something about our individual style. Velvet is not just for formalwear anymore. Add something furry to the mix, and you’ll be in the mix! Plaid is not just for the Burberry set anymore. Many designers have gone mad for plaid this season. Mix brocade fabric with tweed and look downright downtown, and vintage, too! Satin sheathes the body with sexy structure. Lacy lingerie looks are still popular, despite the looming temperatures. Not to worry, did I mention that there is fur outerwear to coordinate with your lacy, racy attire?

The Brooch

Get one! Some jackets all ready have one adorning the lapel. So if you get one of those jackets, get another brooch, too. We’re finally beginning to dress up again, as evinced by the comeback of this glamorous accessory. This is one way to give your get-up some get up and go!

Color Guard

You’re sure to find considerable color at your favorite store, unless you shop at one of those places that only sell black and white wardrobes. Wake up and see the color! There is a color for all of our moods, and certainly for our individual, special colorings. The biggest colors this season are green, the color symbolizing life, and purple signifying protection. These two colors reflect our cultural conscience. We are hopeful about life in a time when many are losing theirs, and we seek protection at times that feel uncertain. Browns appeal to our need to feel grounded, red speaks to our passions, while camel emerges as the new neutral.

So, the ideal item would be a fur trimmed velvet jacket in purple and green with a brooch on the lapel. Just kidding! If you have trouble sorting through these fads, you’re not alone. That’s why Joseph Rosenfeld Image Mentor is here – to clarify your clothing quandaries. Contact us and get on track for fall, and out of that track suit. That fad is so over.
